Under the Uncertificated Securities Market initiative (USM), only persons approved by the Â鶹ÊÓƵ as an approved securities registrar (ASR) may provide securities registrar services.

The table below sets out a list of the companies that have applied to become an ASR, and the scope of securities registrar services they have applied to provide. All applications are currently under review.

1 USM-related services refer to the provision and operation of the systems, procedures and facilities that enable legal title to prescribed securities to be evidenced and transferred without paper instruments.
How to apply to be an ASR
Persons who are not currently providing services similar to securities registrar services but are interested in applying to become an ASR after implementation of USM should contact the Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s Supervision of Markets Division at usmenquiry@sfc.hk as soon as possible.
Securities registrar services refer to any of the following:
- maintain register of holders of prescribed securities
- provide or operate a computer-based system for evidencing and transferring legal title to prescribed securities
- provide services in relation to public offer of prescribed securities
- provide corporate action services in relation to prescribed securities
